Selling on eBay with Shopify can benefit you and your business wonderfully. Nevertheless, how can you jumpstart this process leading to real success? The first step should be to learn to integrate eBay with your Shopify account. Even if you don’t have a current eBay account, the system will prompt you to create one. This happens immediately you add eBay as your Shopify sales channel. If you have an eBay account, you’ll soon receive a prompt to connect you to Shopify and grant permission to publish listings.

How to integrate eBay with Shopify

  • Add eBay as your channel for sales

Log into Shopify account. You need to locate the list of “Sales Channels.” It is found on the bottom-left of the page. Click on the plus (+) sign. It is located to the right of “Sales Channels.” Next, locate the eBay option in the pop-up list. Now click the ( +) button on the right. You’ve now successfully added eBay to your Shopify account as a sales channel.

You will immediately be shown what permissions you grant to eBay. These include orders, customers, managing products and other data that facilitate the operations of such an online store. Without these permissions, eBay cannot send or receive orders. Be assured that eBay will not alter your online store in ways contrary to what you want.

  • Connect eBay Account to Shopify

To start the process of linking eBay to the Shopify account, just click ‘connect.’ You will receive a prompt requesting to give eBay access to connect with your Shopify account. Once eBay is able to do this, it can provide information relating to sales, customers, and messages to Shopify. After this is done, click ‘Add sales channel.” A pop-up window showing the eBay login dialogue box will appear. In case you already have an eBay account, enter the ID and password. Then log in to eBay. Click on ‘Register’ tab if you are selling for the first time on eBay. Follow the prompts and set up a new account.   At this juncture, you may be requested to give further information relating to your business. This will apply whether you are opening a new account or trying to link an old one. This will include your contact information, ownership details, inventory details, and ownership ID. The information may be used on later occasions to verify the legitimacy of your eBay business. eBay excludes businesses that are unverified from some specific marketing initiatives. Make sure to answer all questions honestly and accurately.

After creating a new account, you will receive another prompt requesting you to give Shopify access to the account.  Just click “I agree.”  This will allow Shopify to start new eBay listings and inventory. At the same time, it connects your accounts seamlessly. This allows you to send responses and messages directly from Shopify to eBay buyers.

  • eBay Policy Configurations

After completing the above processes, you will need to configure policies for eBay listings that you set u using Shopify. Follow the prompts to provide information about fulfillment practices, sales terms, and location.

By now, your eBay account is securely connected to the Shopify account. However, you need to offer products for sale on eBay. To do this, promptly publish your Shopify products on eBay.  Items published on eBay are called ‘listings.’ How do you publish your Shopify products here all at once? Just click ‘Review and publish products.’ If you want to publish only some of the products, click on ‘choose individual products.’ Regardless of the selected option, you will be able to fine-tune the listings before shoppers see them on eBay. In situations where you chose to publish some individual products rather than all at once, you will be requested to indicate which items you want to be published first. Go ahead and make your selection. After that, click ‘Save and publish.’ Next, refine the products that you want to be published. Finally, make them become live eBay listings. This allows shoppers to begin making purchases using them.

  • Publish and Customize Products

In the next phase, you will see a table containing a list of products that you opted to publish on eBay. Remember that, in this table, rows represent products, and the columns represent sections of eBay listings that are due to be created for each product. However, it is possible to make changes to aspects of the listing. To make changes, you just need to click on selected cells in the list.

Ensure you add strategic keywords to your listing titles. Use clear, appealing and informative descriptions. Don’t be in a hurry. You need to spend enough time in this job to realize success.
